April 11 - Day trip to Gehman’s Greenhouse, 18359 Ewing Rd. Eat lunch in Benton. Leave St. Joseph Church at 11:00 a.m.
April 19 - * Noon Luncheon at Mackie’s for installation of officers by Marilyn Ellis, Dist. VII Director, meeting follows.
April 26 & 27 - Earth Day Celebration at children's Story Time, Marion Carnegie Library, 10:30 a.m. Earth Day is the 22nd. Twila Couey is Youth Committee Chairman.
April 28 - Arbor Day Ceremony, 9:30 a.m. at The Bark Park, 1110 W. Goodall, Marion.
May 6 - Marion Garden Club Spring Plant Sale, 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Fosse Park-John Kaiser Pavilion (set-up starts at 7:00 a.m.). Plant any needed annuals from plant sale at Pool, Fairgrounds, and City Park beds.
May 17 - *Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Program will be by Vicki Lange Mendenhall from Friends of Crab Orchard. She will present a power point presentation on “Birding”.
May 24 - Summer Reading Program “Marion Reads.” Marion Garden Club will present “Gnomes” at 10:30 a.m. at Mandala Gardens.
June 4-10 - National Garden Week- Sign Proclamation and give donations to Marion Carnegie Library, Williamson County Historical Society, and Habitat for Humanity.
June 10 - Garden Tour, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Plant sale and exhibits at Fairgrounds
June 21 * Meet at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church parking lot to travel to SIU, Carbondale to tour the rooftop garden at the Dept. of Ag. 1205 Lincoln Dr., Carbondale. More information on this trip will be given at a later date. Trip has been cancelled. Instead, there will be a regular meeting at 12:30 p.m. at Heartland Christian Church. Local beekeeper Amy Fanelli will give an overview of beekeeping.
July 19- * Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Program will be by Linda Minnis, Marion Garden Club member, on the "Lifecycle of Monarch and Backyard Butterflies.” Presentation of the Marion Garden Club-Lorraine Highlander Scholarship with reception to follow.
August 16 - *Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Program will be by Diane White on “Gourd Painting.”
September 20 - *Trip to Barkhausen Cache River Wetlands Center, 8885 IL-37. Program will be on “Tagging the Monarch Butterflies.” Bring a sack lunch and drink. On the way home we will take Rt. 45 north of Vienna to stop at Tanner Farms,
5615 US Highway 45 North to buy pumpkins, corn stalks, and other fall ornamentals.
September 27-30 - Work on fairground beds for Williamson County Fair which is October 1-8.
October 18 - *Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Club's 40th Anniversary Celebration! Program by Linda Minnis, “History of Marion Garden Club”, slideshow. Membership awards will be given to members.
October 26 - District VII Semi-Annual Meeting hosted by Town & Country Gardeners of Benton.
November 15- * Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at Noon, 12:00 p.m. Carpool to Sandi Dutton’s home at 15366 Crabtree School Rd to view her “Christmas Village” open house. Return to church for meeting and refreshments. Donation to Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.
December 13 - *Holiday Luncheon at Heartland Christian Church at 12:00 Noon. Donation to Lighthouse Shelter.
January 17 - *Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Stephen Sill, Asst. Professor of Agriculture, SIU, will present a program on “Gardens of My Travels.”
February 21 - *Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Derek Ervin, Glaciers End, presents “Soil Health.” Plan to pay dues: $10 single, $16 couple.
March 20 - *Meet at Heartland Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Program on “Pruning” by Polly Williams, Marion Garden Club member.
March 21 - District VII Annual Meeting hosted by Evergreen Garden Club of Carbondale.
