April 11- Day trip to Gehman’s Greenhouse, 18359 Ewing Rd. Eat lunch in Benton. Leave St. Joseph Church at 11 am.
April 17- * Noon Luncheon at Simply David’s on Russell St. across from the Jr. High track for installation of officers by
Marilyn Ellis, Dist. VII Director, meeting follows.
April 17 & 18- Earth Day Celebration at children's Story Time, Marion Carnegie Library, 10:30 a.m. Earth Day is the 22nd.
April 26- Arbor Day Ceremony, 9:30 a.m. at Ashley Park. The public is invited.
May 4- Marion Garden Club Spring Plant Sale, 8:00 am - 1 pm, Fosse Park-John Kaiser Pavilion (set-up starts at 7:00 a.m.). Plant any needed annuals from plant sale at Pool, Fairgrounds, and City Park beds.
May 15- * Meeting at 1 pm at Mandala Gardens on N State St. past Lincoln School. Bring your own drink.
June 2-8- National Garden Week- Sign Proclamation and give donations to Marion Carnegie Library, Williamson County Historical Society, and Habitat for Humanity.
June 8- Garden Tour, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Plant sale and exhibits at the Fairgrounds.
June 19 * Meet at Heartland Christian Church at 10:30 am to travel to Shawnee Stems, 18104 Boundary Rd, Creal Springs.
Sally Satterfield runs this Wedding Venue and U pick flower farm northeast of Creal Springs. Bring a sack lunch.
July 17- * Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1 pm. Program will be given by Leighann Tindle from TT Gardens of Benton. Leighann cultivates and designs garden inspired florals. Presentation of the Marion Garden Club-Lorraine Highlander Scholarship with reception to follow.
August 1-3- Work on fairground beds for Williamson County Fair which is August 6-10.
August 21- * Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1 pm. MGC member, Dani Swantic, will present “Managing
Forest Land”. Dani is a former Realty Specialist with the US Forest Service.
September 18- * Trip to Walker’s Bluff. Meet at 9:30 at St. Joseph’s Church on Russell St. to carpool. We will tour the wine cave and eat lunch there followed by a short meeting.
October 16- * Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1 pm. Program “Attracting Bees”, will be presented by Kim
Rohling, Horticulture Extension Educator, U of I Extension.
October 24- District VII Semi-Annual Meeting hosted by Metropolis Garden Club.
November 20- * Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1 pm. MGC member and horticulture specialist, Sonja
Lallemand, will present the program, “Taking Care of Garden Tools.” Donation to Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.
December 18- * Holiday Luncheon at Heartland Christian Church at 12:00 Noon. Donation to Lighthouse Shelter.
January 15- * Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1 pm. MGC member, Lynn Love, will give a presentation on
“Propagating Plants and Starting from Seed.”
February 19- * Meeting at Heartland Christian Church at 1 pm. MGC member, Mary Helen Yeck, will give a presentation,
“A Trip Down Under.” Plan to pay dues. $10 single, $16 couple.
March 19- * Meet at Heartland Christian Church at 1:00 pm. Sharon Vansaghi, Curator at Williamson Co. Historical Society, will give the program on “Claiming Local Cemetery”.
March 27- District VII Annual Meeting hosted by Carbondale Garden Study Club.
